Volunteer: Back Office, Clerical Support

This help should either be regularly scheduled or scheduled in advance within 24 to 48 hours before the volunteer shift is expected to be performed. Additional training may be required. Volunteers help out in the reception area by: 

Directing visitors to the proper locations on the campus Answering the phones; scheduling appointments  Facilitate adoption appointments (with training) Other tasks as needed (leave early from shift if nothing is needed) Clerical Support with data entry, or paper filing that is necessary to help out with ongoing tasks of the shelter. Take dogs on a field trip within La Plata County. A minimum of 3 months of regular volunteering is required before enrolling in this program. Must have own transportation, a valid driver's license and appropriate insurance. Must a Buddy Day Pass from LPCHS supervisor, manager, or the volunteer coordinator.

Possible places to go:

Walk dogs in downtown Durango to get them public exposureTake a dog out for a drive, go for a hike, or go to different businessesNo off leash activities and no water activities, like rivers, lakes, ponds, etc.

Play yard is participated and controlled by the Behavior department. You need at least 3 months to 6 months of volunteer experience with the shelter to be considered for helping in the play yard. If Interested and behavior agrees to have you come volunteer, you will be scheduled to come one to two times a week. You will need to go through training with behavior and the rules of the play yard need to be followed.
