Description

Volunteers can walk dogs from the shelter on the river trail.

Other tasks will include:

  • Must be over 18 to hold a leash (Minors must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Work with the dogs on basic commands and leash manners (We never use force so if the dog does not complete the task move forward on your walk)
  • Walk with the dogs 10 to 30 minutes
  • Tell a staff member if a dog is showing signs of any behavior or medical distress

Inclement Weather Plan: We walk dogs in rain, snow, wind, and other types of inclement weather. Although due to driving conditions if its too dangerous to come to the shelter please stay home. Staff will take care of the animals. Depending on how bad the weather is the shelter will close early or close all together for safety means.
