This help should either be regularly scheduled or scheduled in advance within 24 to 48 hours before the volunteer shift is expected to be performed. Additional training may be required. Volunteers help out in the reception area by:
Directing visitors to the proper locations on the campus
Answering the phones; scheduling appointments
Facilitate adoption appointments (with training)
Other tasks as needed (leave early from shift if nothing is needed)
Clerical Support with data entry, or paper filing that is necessary to help out with ongoing tasks of the shelter. Volunteer and request to help but will be asked by that department before starting their shift.
